What Cru means at Nonino
Ribolla Gialla is an old Friulian grape that has featured in the Nonino family’s work to preserve local varieties. For this grappa, pomace is selected according to both grape variety and growing area: that is the meaning of the Cru designation.
Distillation takes place in batches in copper steam stills, separating heads and tails. The spirit then rests for six months to a year in stainless steel, without acquiring the flavours of a wooden barrel.
Rarity shaped by the harvest
Nonino describes a very limited, vintage-dated and numbered production, closely dependent on each harvest.
The glass phials are hand-blown and filled by hand.
Fresh and lightly floral
The palate is elegant and fresh, with a gentle floral character. This expression highlights the clarity of the grape and the delicacy of its aromas. Small sips allow that finesse to emerge as the spirit gradually opens in the glass.
We serve 4 cl at 45% vol. Ribolla, cru, floral, fresh and unaged grappa help locate it in the search, separate from reserves characterised by vanilla or candied fruit.
