Why our website is available in six languages
French, Dutch, English, German, Japanese and Italian: six languages chosen to welcome the international guests of La Corte Segreta in Casteau.
The languages on our website start with the people who come through our door. La Corte Segreta is in Casteau, on the N6, an important road in Belgium. Our proximity to Pairi Daiza, SHAPE in Maisières and the Best Western hotel on the same street brings us an international clientele. We have therefore adapted our website to the languages we encounter when serving guests and taking takeaway orders.
French and Dutch are natural choices. They are the two most widely spoken languages in Belgium, and many of our guests speak Dutch. French also connects us with the many guests who come from France: the border is not far away, and some make the journey to discover our pizzeria.
German also reflects the everyday life of our restaurant. German-speaking guests from the Liège area, as well as Germans who work at SHAPE, come to La Corte Segreta. Offering them the same information in their own language makes it easier to discover our products and the way we work.
English plays an important part in our conversations. We welcome many English-speaking guests, including people from Brussels, but above all through our connection with SHAPE in Maisières. English also allows visitors of different nationalities to browse the website in a language they know.
Our choice of Japanese comes from real encounters: we sometimes welcome Japanese customers, mainly for takeaway orders. We want them, too, to be able to understand our menus, our ingredients and the practical information they need before ordering. This choice sits within a wider context: Wallonia is also seeking to become better known in Japan.
In a response to the Walloon Parliament dated 30 June 2025, Valérie Lescrenier, then Minister for Tourism, Heritage and Early Childhood, explained that VISITWallonia had been working to develop the Japanese tourism market since 2022. She mentioned promotional activities around the World Expo in Osaka and tailored information resources, including a small website in Japanese. June 2025 is therefore the date of that statement; work on this market had begun earlier.
Finally, Italian is simply our mother tongue. It is part of life at La Corte Segreta, our roots and the culture we share through our cooking. Its presence on the website is a natural continuation of that identity.
When you come to La Corte Segreta to eat in, our team can show you the QR-code board. Use your smartphone to scan the code for your preferred language: you will open the website in that language and can browse the menus and information that interest you.
Paper menus for takeaway orders are also adapted to the languages we offer. For a meal in the restaurant, we therefore invite you to use the QR-code board. The purpose is the same in every language: to give you access to our food and its story, and to help you choose with an understanding of what we prepare.
